Each and every one of us experiences a unique and personal relationship with food. Like any relationship, there will be some good days and some bad days, but in the end we will always need food. Many of us have a great fascination with what we eat but only a handful of people pursue a career in nutrition. I just happen to be one of those people.
At a very young age, I was exposed to martial arts by my father. Traditional martial arts combines the philosophy of mind, body and spirit. It developes our continued efforts to push and improve ourselves, so the level at which we are pushed is increased. When you begin to focus on yourself, internally you begin to understand what makes you feel well and what does not.
Inherently, our bodies are extremely intelligent. When we are deficient in something, our body will signal us, through which a craving results. Our cravings are a great indication of our levels of stress, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficencies, dehydration, etc.
With much disciplined education along with independent research I formally became a Clinical Nutritionist. My own personal journey allowed me to appreciate how drastically a change in eating styles will impact one’s health and well-being.
At the end of the day, there is no such thing as eating perfectly. We are all unique individuals with ever changing lives. We continue to learn about ourselves and our needs. We can all achieve higher levels of health and well-being to ensure that we are there for our loved ones and to enjoy all that life has to offer.
Nutrition is a journey, but one that is well worth the time and effort that could make for a joyous and exciting expedition.
